Bury Independent Living Development (BuryILD) is a charity that provides help and care for adults with learning disabilities to live independently in the Metropolitan Borough of Bury and the bordering area. Our principle objective is to enable people to become valued members of their community, and to lead an independent and fulfilled life of their choosing.
There are 7 core factors that make BuryILD great.
100% focus on our supported people. We have no shareholders and are a not for profit organisation. Therefore unlike commercial organisations who aim to make a profit, we put any money we do make back into the organisation to provide better quality care and support.
- Varied social and leisure opportunities. ‘Contact Leisure’ division, organises and runs social and leisure activities for adults with learning disabilities using community venues. Our supported people in BuryILD have full access to Contract Leisure.
- Family involvement. We encourage and provide opportunities for family members to be involved in their son’s or daughter’s lives, and in particular the ongoing planning, alongside the supported Individual and the BuryILD Staff.
Full customised service. We tailor the support needed in a variety of ways according to individual wishes, strengths and needs.
Great staff. We are a strong investor in people by training and developing our staff so they are better skilled and experienced to offer better care and support.
- Always listening and improving. We run regular supported individual and family feedback forums to discuss what we are doing and what can be done to make the service provided by BuryILD even better.
- High expectations. We offer high standards of overall care and support, reflected by strong Care Quality Commission ratings. We are not complacent and are always striving to improve even further
The more donations we can receive the better quality and variety of leisure activities we can provide to our members who have learning disabilities.
